Cusco Rainbow Mountain, included in National Geographic’s list of «100 Places to Visit in Your Lifetime», is a breathtaking sight, colorful and beauty. Look out for llamas and alpacas roaming freely along the way. Your adventure begins with a hearty breakfast and ends with a delicious local lunch.
We leave very early. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 5:30 a.m Cusco is located at 3400 meters. Then take a private transport to the starting point, which will take us 3 hours (paved road), but after 2 hours in the van we will stop in the community of Cusipata (3450 m) to eat breakfast, stretch our legs and continue on this journey we drive another 1 hour to reach the starting point of the trek Phulawasipata (4600m), a fantastic place where we will stop to prepare for our great adventure, warm cloths, water and sun protection are essential!.
Now the most exciting part of the journey has just begun, we will walk for 2 hours.
When you arrive at Vinicunca (5000 m), the Rainbow Mountain appears in front of you, which is the best viewpoint, as well as the snow-capped Ausangante Mountain (6384 m), our most important APUS (god) in the area.
At noon we begin our 1.5 hour walk down the mountain to our bus. After an hour’s drive, we stop at a local restaurant to have our local lunch and relax. Then it’s time to head back to the city of Cusco, where we arrive around 4:00 PM.

VERY IMPORTANT
- We recommend to adapt to the high altitude at leaset 2 days before the day of the tour.
- The walk will start higher than the city of Cusco at 4.500 m.a.s.l and it will take you to 5010 m.a.s.l at the highest point of the trek.
- Have a good rest the night before.
- Bring water or rehydration drinks.
- Bring warm and light clothes. During the day the wind can get strong and cold. So, we recommend you to take a light jacket, hat or cap, gloves, comfortable pants and hiking shoes.
- Bring a rain jacket or a rain poncho with you always.
Sunblock is very important. The intensity of the solar radiation is much higher at this altitude. - Baby steps!! Always in the altitude walk at your own pace.

- As you can choose different ways of reaching Machu Picchu (Inca Trail, Quarry Trail or Train), there is a small chance you may be the only traveller on your selected option.
