The recommendation of this list is based on the previous comments of our customers, especially if you intend to do the Inca Trail, Please consider the suggestions we give you here, but feel free to pack as you wish and consider that the weather may be different depending on the period of the year you want to travel and its different microclimates that it has for the different geographical regions.
Packing
Most travelers prefer small to medium wheeled suitcases that are large enough for our private cars. Whatever you bring, keep in mind that you need to be able to carry your luggage, handle it at the airport, get in/out of your accommodation and possibly even walk short distances.
In general, we recommend packing as light as possible.
Domestic flight baggage allowance:
The maximum weight limit for checked baggage is 23 kg, including 1 small piece of hand luggage (maximum dimensions for hand luggage: 25 cm depth x 35 cm width x 45 cm height).
Any excess baggage fees must be paid directly to the airline at check-in.
In addition to the items and clothes you always need when traveling, we have listed our packing recommendations for this trip:
Basic
- Closed-toe shoes help protect your feet from cuts and scrapes when walking around the city and bush/grass areas, and can also act as a barrier against bites or stings in rare cases
- Sun protection
- Hat, sunscreen
- Sunglasses
Recommended:
- Soft and/or hard copies of all important documents such as tickets, passports, vaccination certificates, etc.
- And keep hard copies separate from the originals. While a copy is ineffective, it makes it easier to get a replacement if needed
- Water bottle. We recommend a capacity of at least 1.5 liters. The sale of plastic bottled water is causing huge environmental problems around the world.Much of it ends up in limited landfills or is buried in streams and the natural environment
- Power adapter plug
- Personal medical kit. Your guide will bring a large kit, but we recommend bringing items such as mild pain relievers, electrolytes and patches.
Insecticide - Can be used with clocks/alarm clocks or phones
Elective subjects
- Earplugs to prevent potential snoring from roommates
- Phrasebook
Valuables:
Try not to bring unnecessary valuables and use the hotel safe.
It’s also a good idea to buy a money belt or purse that’s easy to hide
Laundry:
Many hotels and cities offer laundry services while you’re traveling, but you may have to wait over the night for your laundry to be returned on time.
Hotel laundries usually charge per piece, while self-service laundries usually charge per kilogram, and the price is usually not expensive (around $2 per kg)
Amazon Jungle Packing List
- Long, light, close-fitting cotton shirt and pants
- Comfortable shoes and sandals for outdoor walking and around lodge.
- Long, thick socks to wear with rubber boots from the lodge.
- Raincoat or poncho
- Tropical-strength insecticide
- Small bills for occasional purchases (e.g. drinks)
- Headlamp or flashlight (optional, smartphone flashlight will suffice)
- Binoculars (optional)
For Hiking in Peru
We provide tents and sleeping mats during your Peru trek.
During the pre-hike briefing, you will be given a small bag to carry your hiking clothes, please note that the weight limit is 5 kg, including the sleeping bag.
If you are hiking in Peru, in addition to the general packing list above, be sure to bring these items with you.
Passport:
You must bring your passport, a photocopy is not enough.
It is very important that your passport matches the information you provided us when booking this trip (please keep it in a plastic bag in case of rain)
Sleeping bag:
A warm sleeping bag is required for the hike. Sleeping bag rental costs 20-25 USD, please inform the group leader during the briefing.
A four-season (or -10) sleeping bag is recommended, especially during the winter months.
Other times you can wear a 3-season (or -5) sleeping bag, but it depends on how cold you are and is just a guide.
Silk sleeping bag liner
Especially recommended if you plan to rent a sleeping bag, but can also add warmth to your own.
Pillow
Pillows are not provided on the trek, it is your personal choice if you want to bring one. If you decide to bring a pillow, we recommend that you bring a travel-friendly pillow that will easily fit into your small bag.
Walking poles:
Trekking poles are not required, it is a personal choice. We recommend renting them before your hike briefing for around $10 per person, so you can avoid the hassle of carrying them for the rest of your trip.
Daypack:
A daypack with easy access to a water bottle (outside pocket) or a daypack with a built-in water bladder.
The bag should be large enough to hold a few things you need for the day (hat, water, camera, snacks, raincoat, etc).
Water bottle:
You should bring at least 2 liters of water per day when hiking. Depending on whether you have a hydration bladder in your bag, we recommend bringing two (1 liter) bottles along the way that can be filled with boiled water, as they are provided daily.
Waterproof, abrasion-resistant walking boots:
Good, comfortable shoes are essential.
No matter what you wear on your feet, comfort is the most important thing. It is very important to make sure your boots are durable and lightweight.
Ankle support and waterproof are recommended, but if you already have comfortable, grippy boots, don’t rush out and buy new ones – you’re better off with your old pair!
- Layering:
(e.g. zip-up pants, jacket, T-shirt).
Thermal underwear:
Thermal underwear is highly recommended as it is lightweight, will keep you warm at night.
Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
Personal medicine and basic first aid kit.Band-Aids, Imodium, Pain killer and rehydration packs.
Camera and extra batteries, memory cards or film.
Please note: there are no electrical outlets on the hike, so make sure you are fully charged and/or have extra batteries.
Snacks:
Chocolate, potato chips, cookies, energy bars. Snacks are provided during the hike, but you can bring an extra one or two just in case.
If you have dietary requirements, it is recommended that you bring suitable snacks from home.
We provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, but for safety reasons it is advisable to bring snacks.
Plastic bag
Keep your belongings and clothes dry (wrap everything in a plastic bag).
toilet paper:
Most importantly! There are also small plastic bags or zip lock bags for trash, which are then thrown into the main trash bag provided by the mover. Please don’t throw toilet paper on the floor!
Wet wipes or facial tissues
These are essential and will come in handy if you are traveling long distances and don’t have access to a shower.
Small towel and basic personal toiletries:
There is a shower available on the third night on the Inca Trail , so bring travel – shampoo and body wash if you wish.
Extras
Headlamp or standard flashlight (flashlight).
(very important) and spare batteries.
Insecticide with tropical strength.
Antibacterial hand gel.
Flip flops/sandals.If you want to shower and walk around camp after a long day of hiking.
Earplugs: If your tent «roommate» snores.
- You can choose how much you bring, but remember that the weight limit is 5 kg. We recommend the following:
- 2 pairs of long pants (zippered for easy access Optional, but not required).
- 2 T-shirts.
- 1 pair of shorts.
- Raincoat or poncho (ponchos can be purchased locally 2-3 USD).
- 4-5 pairs of thick socks.
- Warm clothes for the night.
- Wool, pants, wool hat, gloves.
