DAY 1

La Paz

Welcome to La Paz. At around 3,600 meters above sea level, La Paz will make you feel like you’re on top of the world. Although Sucre is the official capital of Bolivia, La Paz is the industrial center. Despite its abundance of colonial architecture, La Paz’s indigenous roots run deep, and its market-filled streets have a vibe that’s both modern and traditional. After a welcome meeting at 6pm with your local tour leader, head out into the city, which sits in the middle of a giant volcanic crater. Breathe in the «thin» air, admire the views of the buildings along the gorge, and explore lively streets like wishes Market.

  • Accommodation : Hotel in La Paz.

Arriving to Uyuni feels like you’ve reached the end of the road. This remote town sits on the edge of the Altiplano, a desert that stretches for hundreds of kilometers to the border between Argentina and Chile. Uyuni

Uyuni is the starting point for your 4×4 tour of the Salar de Uyuni and the Andean desert. Continue to the town of Kolchani, where salt is produced the old-fashioned way, and then to the salt flats. It’s a very hypnotic sight, where endless sky meets endless white plains – don’t forget to take lots of pictures! Stop at a charming salt hotel before heading to Cactus Island, which rises like jagged reefs in the desert. This fossil-filled outcrop, known as Isla Incahuasi or Fish Island, was once the summit of an ancient volcano, and you can choose to take a walking tour here. After a day trip, head south to a small village and homestay. Sit back and enjoy the included dinner.

  • Accommodation : Hotel in salt flats.
  • Meals : Breakfast, Lunch , Dinner.

Important Note: The accommodation in the tour of the salt flats is very basic. Showers can be cold, as pipes often freeze in winter. The desert is located at high altitude and can experience extremely cold weather, especially at night, so it is important to bring warm clothes. Depending on the size of your group, you may be joined by other travelers during your 4WD tour.

Please note that there is a risk of flooding of the salt lake from December to March. If this is the case, the itinerary will be adjusted to accommodate this situation, which may include skipping the Inkahuasi tour that begins today

Pass by the Chiguana Salt Lake, the still active Volcano and other small lakes of different colors – you may even spot some magnificent flamingos nearby! The recommendation of this list is based on the previous comments of our customers, especially if you intend to do the Inca Trail, Please consider the suggestions we give you here, but feel free to pack as you wish and consider that the weather may be different depending on the period of the year you want to travel and its different microclimates that it has for the different geographical regions.

Most travelers prefer small to medium wheeled suitcases that are large enough for our private cars. Whatever you bring, keep in mind that you need to be able to carry your luggage, handle it at the airport, get in/out of your accommodation and possibly even walk short distances.

In general, we recommend packing as light as possible.

The maximum weight limit for checked baggage is 23 kg, including 1 small piece of hand luggage (maximum dimensions for hand luggage: 25 cm depth x 35 cm width x 45 cm height).

Any excess baggage fees must be paid directly to the airline at check-in.

In addition to the items and clothes you always need when traveling, we have listed our packing recommendations for this trip:

  • Closed-toe shoes help protect your feet from cuts and scrapes when walking around the city and bush/grass areas, and can also act as a barrier against bites or stings in rare cases
  • Sun protection
  • hat, sunscreen
  • sunglasses
  • Soft and/or hard copies of all important documents such as tickets, passports, vaccination certificates, etc.

And keep hard copies separate from the originals. While a copy is ineffective, it makes it easier to get a replacement if needed

  •  Water bottle. We recommend a capacity of at least 1.5 liters. The sale of plastic bottled water is causing huge environmental problems around the world.Much of it ends up in limited landfills or is buried in streams and the natural environment
  • Power adapter plug
  • Personal medical kit. Your guide will bring a large kit, but we recommend bringing items such as mild pain relievers, electrolytes and patches.
  • Insecticide
  • Can be used with clocks/alarm clocks or phones
  • Earplugs to prevent potential snoring from roommates
  • phrasebook

Try not to bring unnecessary valuables and use the hotel safe.

It’s also a good idea to buy a money belt or purse that’s easy to hide

Many hotels and cities offer laundry services while you’re traveling, but you may have to wait over the night for your laundry to be returned on time.

Hotel laundries usually charge per piece, while self-service laundries usually charge per kilogram, and the price is usually not expensive (around $2 per kg)

You must bring your passport, a photocopy is not enough.

It is very important that your passport matches the information you provided us when booking this trip (please keep it in a plastic bag in case of rain)

Especially recommended if you plan to rent a sleeping bag, but can also add warmth to your own.

A daypack with easy access to a water bottle (outside pocket) or a daypack with a built-in water bladder.

The bag should be large enough to hold a few things you need for the day (hat, water, camera, snacks, raincoat, etc).

You should bring at least 2 liters of water per day when hiking. Depending on whether you have a hydration bladder in your bag, we recommend bringing two (1 liter) bottles along the way that can be filled with boiled water, as they are provided daily.

Good, comfortable shoes are essential.

No matter what you wear on your feet, comfort is the most important thing. It is very important to make sure your boots are durable and lightweight.

Ankle support and waterproof are recommended, but if you already have comfortable, grippy boots, don’t rush out and buy new ones – you’re better off with your old pair!

(e.g. zip-up pants, jacket, T-shirt).

Thermal underwear is highly recommended as it is lightweight, will keep you warm at night.

Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.

Personal medicine and basic first aid kit.Band-Aids, Imodium, Pain killer and rehydration packs.

Camera and extra batteries, memory cards or film.

Keep your belongings and clothes dry (wrap everything in a plastic bag).

Most importantly! There are also small plastic bags or zip lock bags for trash, which are then thrown into the main trash bag provided by the mover. Please don’t throw toilet paper on the floor!

These are essential and will come in handy if you are traveling long distances and don’t have access to a shower.
